Spring things: Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Blush

Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Blush

As Britain basks in its first heatwave of the year, it’s time to put the saturated matte lipsticks aside and bust out something lighter and fresher.

I’ve been wearing my Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Blush lipsticks for a few weeks and I love them. They’re not all-day-long lip products, they’re light and sheer and double up as a gentle wash of colour for cheeks too. They’re a new melty gel texture and contain Chanel’s Hydraboost complex, so a combo of jojoba, mimosa and sunflower oils, plus a lip-softening coconut derivative and a ‘trace’ of peptide, promising to plump a little (tbh, this wasn’t very noticeable).

What I like is the shade range – five juicy pinks and corals, plus one deeper berry. And the easy application. They’re super light and blend like a soft, whipped gel-mousse. My go-to shade is Teasing Pink (a soft raspberry, below left) followed by Corail Naturel (below, right), a milky ingenue pink that’s also perfect on my cheeks. The finish is slightly matte, but if you pat it in sparingly, you get more of a subtle stain. I like applying it over lip gloss too.

Accompanying the Rouge Coco Lip Blushes are six nail shades which are a mix of electric poppy pinks and darker inky colours. This Rose Neon pink is likely to be a big hit, while the deep Brun Contraste is an edgy eggplant for lovers of Rouge Noir. (Alas, the pin brooches aren’t included.)

I’ve also been revisiting my Chanel Les Exclusifs Jersey eau de toilette. It’s a powdery lavender-musk with subtle hints of vanilla that’s perfect for these brighter spring weekends. (Buy it here.)
