The Celine perfume has landed (in an exclusive experiential boutique)
Hedi Slimane’s Celine perfume lands today. The handmade glass bottles have been filled with blonde juice, now all that remains is the sniff test. There are eleven masculine-feminine perfumes for day and night (of which two will come next year). Here’s a reminder of what to choose…
Day scents include Parade, Cologne Française, La Peau Nue, Eau de Californie, Saint Germain des Prés and Dans Paris. Night scents include Reptile, Black Tie and Nightclubbing. And coming in 2020 will be Bois Dormant and Rimbaud.
I do love the elegant bottle design. Very Hedi.
For now, I’m not expecting any ground breakers, more a ‘wardrobe’ of crowd-pleasing classics. That makes commercial sense. Although there is a ‘powdery’ Hedi signature running through many of them. I’d expect the later ones to be the more innovative creations for the perfumistas. This WSJ piece has lots more detail.
The Celine haute parfumerie fragrances (from £175) are available from today at a special Celine scent store at 390 rue Saint-Honoré (top). It sounds like an arty ‘world of Hedi’ concept store, which is interesting way to sell fragrance. It will also be available at Celine’s three Paris boutiques and Madison Avenue, New York flagship, and soon from Celine boutiques and celine.com by the end of the month.

Perfume packaging is really important to me, so I’m already sold partly on these fragrances just looking at the bottles. They are really elegant.

Thanks Laura. Me too, I’m fascinated by perfume marketing, even though I know the juice itself costs peanuts compared to everything else around it!
